What to Expect When Using PinPoint

Once you begin the sign up process, you will need to create a username and password for your new PinPoint account. Next we will ask you for a few key pieces of information, including your name, postal code, email address, and phone number. We will use this information to build a PinPoint profile for you, allowing us to better detect fraud.

When Connecting Accounts/Phone

After completing this form, you can click the Next button in the bottom right-hand corner to bring you to the following page. Here, you will be guided through the process of connecting your financial accounts to your PinPoint account, configuring your alert preferences, and connecting your cell phone.

Activation Steps

After Sign Up

After completing these three steps you will be ready to view account transactions, receive alerts, and take advantage of the Fraud Insider page on our website. Your Dashboard will update with the last thirty days worth of transactions within 24-48 hours of adding your financial accounts. As soon as your account is created and you connect your cell phone and your bank accounts, PinPoint will begin monitoring your transactions for fraud.

Alerts

If our system detects a high-risk transaction on one of your accounts, here's what you can expect:

The volume of alerts you get may vary, depending on how you configure your threshold alert preferences. You can control the number of these alerts you get based on how high or low you set your threshold. Visit your PinPoint Control Center to configure your threshold alert preferences.

PinIf you receive a PinPoint alert, the first thing you should do is review the transaction(s) in question. If you do not recognize the transaction, call your bank immediately and report the incident. You can also look at our website or call the Fraud Hotline for fraud fighting tips.

PinPinPoint is unique because we compare the location of your cell phone with the location of your transactions to help monitor for fraud. However, this is not the only dimension to our analysis. We use other data like merchant type and purchase history to better detect fraud and help reduce false alerts. Accordingly, you should be aware that merely forgetting your phone at home while buying milk at the grocery store will not necessarily trigger an alert. Our balanced analysis works smarter and will only notify you if the transaction is suspicious or outside your 'norm'.
